About dexgc

About dexgc: data sources and methodology

Every figure here comes from a venue's public API and is converted on one basis. This page sets those bases out in one place, so they can be checked and cited.

Explanation and official sources reviewed:

dexgc collects perpetual futures data every 15 minutes from the public APIs of Binance, OKX, Bybit, Gate, Bitget, Hyperliquid, Lighter and Aster, converts each funding rate to a simple annualised figure over its own settlement period so venues can be compared side by side, and adds 30 days of settled history, maintenance margin ladders, and liquidation and holding-cost calculations. It is reference data, not investment advice.

What dexgc is

dexgc is a cross-venue perpetual futures data site covering centralised exchanges (Binance, OKX, Bybit, Gate, Bitget) and on-chain venues (Hyperliquid, Lighter, Aster). It shows each contract's current funding rate and simple annualised rate, the gap between venues for the same asset, the rates actually settled over the past 30 days, and each venue's published maintenance margin ladder, and builds liquidation and holding-cost calculations on them.

Where the data comes from

Everything comes from each venue's public market-data API. dexgc signs in to no trading account, reads no private data and never handles user funds. The API documentation for each venue is listed at the end of this page and on the venues page; Gate and Bitget data likewise comes from their public futures market APIs.

How often it updates

  • Funding rates, mark prices, turnover and open interest: collected every 15 minutes, with the observation time (UTC) shown on every page.
  • A current funding rate is a quote before settlement and can still change until it settles.
  • Maintenance margin ladders: they change rarely, and are collected again once older than 7 days.
  • Settled history: the settlements that actually took place over the past 30 days, fetched from each venue's history endpoint at least every six hours; pre-settlement quotes are not counted.

How funding rates are annualised

Venues settle funding every 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours, so per-period rates cannot be compared directly. dexgc converts each to a simple annualised rate first:

Simple annualised rate = rate per period × 8,760 ÷ period length in hours

Example: 0.01% every 8 hours → 0.01% × 8,760 ÷ 8 = 10.95%

No compounding. The annualised figure exists to compare periods and venues; it does not mean that much will be paid or received over a year.

How settled history is measured

The rates actually settled over the past 30 days are annualised over the hours those settlements covered, not extrapolated from today's rate. Written conclusions use only contracts with at least a week of settlements spread over six days or more; contracts with fewer appear in tables with their value and settlement count.

Why rankings have a turnover floor

The funding and cross-venue spread rankings include only contracts with at least $1M of turnover over the past 24 hours. Thinly traded contracts sometimes print extreme rates, which do not mean a meaningful position could be opened at that price. Asset and contract pages keep low-turnover contracts and show their turnover.

What the calculators assume

  • Liquidation price: isolated margin on linear perpetuals, solved from the venue's published maintenance tiers and deductions; fees and funding paid while open are excluded.
  • Holding cost: open and close fees plus funding over the holding period at current rates; inverse (coin-margined) contracts are not compared.

Limits

  • Public APIs describe a venue's general terms, not any one account's VIP fees, regional restrictions or risk settings.
  • A missing field is shown as a dash, never as zero.
  • Venue APIs are sometimes late or wrong; check the venue's own page before trading.
  • All data is for reference only and is not investment advice.

Referral links

Some outbound links to venues are referral links and are marked sponsored; dexgc may earn a commission if you register and trade through them. A referral decides only where an outbound link points. It never affects what is collected or stored, or how anything is ordered.

Common questions

How often is dexgc's data updated?

It is collected every 15 minutes, and every page shows its observation time in UTC. Maintenance margin ladders change rarely and are collected again once older than 7 days.

How is a funding rate annualised?

Simple annualised rate = rate per period × 8,760 ÷ period length in hours, without compounding. For example, 0.01% every 8 hours annualises to 10.95%.

Does dexgc trade or hold funds?

No. dexgc reads only public market data from venues, signs in to no account and never handles user funds.

Do referral links affect rankings?

No. A referral link decides only where an outbound link points; it never affects collection, storage or any ordering.

Official sources and scope

These sources support the venue rules explained here. Worked numbers are our calculations under stated assumptions, not venue quotes. Rules can change; the specific contract and account settlement record take precedence.
